Cefaclor is in a class of medications called cephalosporin antibiotics. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria. Antibiotics will not work for colds flu or other viral infections.Cefaclor comes as a capsule an extended-release (long-acting) tablet and a suspension (liquid) to take by mouth. The capsule and liquid are usually taken every 8 hours (three times a day) or every 12 hours (twice a day). The long-acting tablet is usually taken every 12 hours (twice a day) within 1 hour of eating a meal. To help you remember to take cefaclor take it around the same time every day.
